August 2016 Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President Ron Gray on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Rosenthals (30925 Namekagon Rd, Danbury, WI 54830), at 10:01AM. There were 36 members in attendance.

Minutes of the last meeting on July, 22, 2016, were read by President Gray, in the absence of Secretary Joan Williamson. Motion was made by Jim Aritt, seconded by Elmer Both, to approve the minutes as read.

Financial Report was presented by President Gray in the absence of Cheryl Gray, Treasurer. The bank balance as of August 20, 2016, is $29,284.65. An itemized list of income and expenses is attached to this document. Motion to approve the financial report as read was made by Denise Peyton, seconded by Gary Brook.

Trails and Equipment:

President Gray reported that most of the trails are in good condition. Harvey Thompson used the bush hog to flatten corners on Trail 8. All equipment is in good running condition. The tractor warranty expires this year so we are checking into a new tractor.


The WATVA regional meeting was held on August 13 at the club building. More than 60 people attended the event and about 25 ATV/UTVs went for a ride on our county trail system. Lunch was served at noon followed by a general meeting explaining the hard work done by WATVA. Thanks to Cheryl Gray (pulled pork), Deanna Thompson, Denise Peyton, Deb O’Connell and Julie Coyle (desserts). Greg Olson, Northwest WATVA Regional Coordinator, will send a thank you to Polaris for their generous donation of door prizes.

We also would like to thank the ATV club from Luck for their donation of door prizes. There was a motion made by Tom Ross, seconded by Deb O’Connell, to use a white ballot for the election of officers. The motion passed. Elected officers for the upcoming year will be: President - Ron Gray Vice President - Bruce Peyton Treasure - Cheryl Gray Secretary - Darci Long

The ATV/UTV club was on the agenda for the recent Swiss Township meeting. The issue was the opening of 11 roads in the Township for ATV/UTV use. After an intense discussion the Board decided to table the issue until their October meeting.

We received a thank you card from the Burnett County Humane Society for our $300 donation. We also received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Burnett County Forestry and Parks staff for letting them use our pole building for an August 10 audit lunch.

Denise Peyton reported all sizes are available in the black and red club tee shirt.

Public Comment:
There was a lengthly discussion about opening up township roads. We also discussed how county roads have to go through the country infrastructure and the county board to be approved.

Next meeting will be held at Hillside Inn, 33595 State Rd 35, Danbury, WI 54830 on September 16, 2016, at 6:00PM. Refreshments will be served

Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Harvey Thompson, seconded by Larry O’Connell. Meeting was adjourned at 11:02.
